experience Description: Position involves providing psychological
services to patients, residents, consumers, students, and inmates.
Conduct psychological and neuropsychological evaluations and
assessments. Administer, score, and interpret psychological tests.
Review pre-admission or pre-treatment data. Conduct interviews and
write evaluation reports and treatment plans. Evaluate treatment
plans developed by others and coordinate psychological services and
programs. Assist with program development and conduct research on
psychological assessment and treatment. Conduct individual and
group counseling and psychotherapy. Counsel on issues such as
substance abuse, trauma, self-injury, suicidal ideation, grief and
loss, impulse control, family issues, health issues, interpersonal
issues, and criminal behavior. Follow up on treatment and write
progress reports. Conduct psychological evaluations and
court-ordered forensic evaluations. Conduct suicide risk
assessments and evaluate potential for suicide. Consult with
psychiatrists and work with clients to establish reasons for living
and teach coping strategies. Diffuse and de-escalate issues while
role modeling positive behaviors. Conduct ongoing assessments of
inmates to identify, prevent, and contain significant lethality
risks. Provide psychological services under the oversight of Adult
Parole Authority. Coordinate services between institutional mental
health services and local community mental health service
providers. Complete re-entry accountability plans and conduct home
visits to offenders with field officers. Provide specialized
therapies such as aggression control and victim empathy. Conduct
psycho-educational classes and time-limited group psychotherapy.
Participate in treatment team functions and provide technical
assistance and guidance. Recommend policies and procedures for
assessment, evaluation, and treatment. Evaluate defendant or
patient mental status and competence to stand trial. Write
comprehensive forensic reports and recommendations for courts.
Respond to subpoenas and appear in court as an expert witness on
forensic and psychological matters. Testify regarding placement,
guardianship, risk assessment, and competency to stand trial. Write
discharge summaries or behavioral recommendations for individuals
transitioning out of institutions. Prepare statistical reports and
graphs summarizing behavioral progress and interventions. Act as a
liaison for offenders with treatment teams, boards, and management
staff. Review multiple charts, conduct interviews, and write risk
assessment reports and treatment summaries. Serve as an advisor on
psychological matters for units, divisions, and community
organizations. Prepare materials for staff development and
participate in training. Requirements Required for Onboarding BLS
