We work in large and small businesses all around the world - but we always work together.Your responsibilitiesSummary:The Project Buyer leads costing and sourcing activities for new customer programs; participates in the Cross-Functional Team (CFT) meetings; ensures components are sourced in-time for new programs; investigates and develops cost-down solutions with engineering, purchasing and suppliers in order to achieve cost targets; ensures compliance of all activities with policies related to Compliance, Sustainability and Risk Management.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the sameLeads the costing and sourcing of all materials to be purchased for assigned customer acquisitions and programsCoordinates activities with commodity buyers to ensure that quotes are submitted and materials are sourced according to the defined cost and time targetsConsolidates and monitors material costs for acquisition and new programs; conducts analyses to identify cost reduction opportunitiesDrives cross-functional (e.g. with Engineering, Production, Logistics) cost-down initiatives to achieve or exceed cost and profitability targets of new programsRepresents the purchasing department in all assigned customer program CFT and acquisition meetingsSupports purchasing related activities through product lifecycle (e.g. change management)Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization standards and policiesPerforms all other duties and responsibilities as assignedYour profileQualifications & Experience:Strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to meet defined targets.Leadership and accountability skillsStrong business acumenStrong analytical skills and attention to detailEngineering background or strong affinity for techniqueOrganizational and communication skills; able to work independently as well as part of a teamExperience as a Buyer, preferably in a Tier I or II Automotive Company, a plusProficiency with Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Ability to work in a cross-functional and global matrix organizationHighly organized with ability to work independently as well as part of a teamExhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all activities; maintains accountability for performanceStrong attention to detail with well-developed organizational and communication skillsProven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes for the team/customersEducation:Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering or related field requiredContactPleaseApplyOn LineYour benefitsBeyond the competitive benefits and compensation packages, Bilstein of America proudly offers a rich history, steeped in innovation and a lasting commitment to our customers, employees and communities.
