In the United States, BILSTEIN of America employs approximately 750
extremely focused, driven and passionate employees in four
different locations: San Diego, CA, Mooresville, NC, Troy, MI and
our only North American production and headquarters facility in
Hamilton, OH. This 24/7 facility uses the newest technology to
assemble the majority of our shock-absorber production for three
separate yet integral production groups - Original Equipment (OE),
Aftermarket (AM) and Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV). We work with
our customers to provide the right system for the desired ride -
from passive monotube shock absorbers to those that are adjustable,
we have you covered for the optimal driving experience.
Your responsibilities
The Designer is responsible for creating and releasing complex
drawings and designs of shock absorbers. Applies sound engineering
principles in the documentation of part and product Model &
drawings. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains a safe
working environment by complying with all safety and environmental
policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work
environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and
environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging
others to do the same
- Creates and releases complex drawings and designs of shock
absorbers for acquisitions based on guidance/markups from Product
Engineer
- Writes change requests for all engineering changes (OEs) in
order to make modifications to current drawings in organizations
data base system (Oracle software) to meet the design
specifications as outlined by the Product Engineer
- Interfaces with data base system (Oracle software) to release
drawings and works closely with German Design team to create new
Oracle processes
- Revises and updates existing drawings to reflect design
changes
- Investigates any discrepancies noticed in drawings and makes
adjustments to ensure the form, fit and function of the design is
accurate based on interface with Product Engineer
- Makes recommendations to the Product Engineer on design
layouts
- Interfaces with customers to upload 3D models and drawings into
the customer's specific drawing software system
- Manages the new design software and interface requirements from
customers proactively
- Performs supplier research on industry standard components,
such as "o" rings and fasteners
- Coordinates with Bilstein IT group and German Design Team to
assist with resolving software and hardware issues
Your profile
Qualifications & Experience: Expert CAD experience designing solid
models in either Catia V5 or NX 8.5 software
- Considerable experience as a Designer, preferably in the
automotive industry
- Proficient experience creating typical 2D print dimensioning &
tolerancing
- Advanced understanding of how to apply GD&T to
drawings
- Considerable experience in releasing drawings into data base
(Oracle experience preferred)
- Demonstrated knowledge of complex math. Possesses a logical
method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve
one's skills. Demonstrates a strong commitment to meet and exceed
customer requirements at all times
- Ability to read and understand blue prints and work
instruction
- Ability to communicate to engineers & suppliers simple design &
engineering conditions.
- Possesses a stable work history, preferably in a manufacturing
environment, and a strong personal desire to work safely and
maintain a safe working environment
- Demonstrates a strong customer focus along with a great work
ethic and willingness to do what needs to be done (without taking
shortcuts)
- Demonstrated reliability, good initiative, committed, and
quality focused
- Highly organized with ability to work independently as well as
part of a team
- Exhibits integrity through fair and ethical behaviors in all
activities; maintains accountability for performance
- Strong attention to detail with well-developed organizational
and communication skills
- Proven experience developing work processes to improve outcomes
for the team/customers Education:
- 2 or 4 year technical degree preferred; High School Diploma or
G.E.D. required
