Applies sound engineering principles in the documentation of part and product Model & drawings.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the sameCreates and releases complex drawings and designs of shock absorbersWrites change requests for all engineering changes (OEs) in order to make complex modifications to current drawings in organizations data base system (Oracle software) to meet the design specifications outlined by the Product EngineerInterfaces with data base system (Oracle software) to release drawings and works closely with German Design team to create new Oracle processesRevises and updates existing drawings to reflect design changesAccurately follows specifications outlined in the blueprints to make modifications to drawings and obtains approval on all drawingsPerforms complex mathematical calculations, such as shock layouts & tolerance stack-upsInvestigates any discrepancies noticed in drawings and makes adjustments to ensure the form, fit and function of the design is accurateMakes recommendations to the Product Engineer on design layoutsInterfaces with customers to upload 3D models and drawings into the customer s specific drawing software systemManages the new design software and interface requirements from customers proactivelyPerforms supplier research on industry standard components, such as "o" rings and fastenersCoordinates with Bilstein IT group and German Design Team to assist with resolving software and hardware issuesYour profileQualifications & Experience:Expert CAD experience designing solid models in either Catia V5 or NX 8.5 softwareConsiderable experience as a Designer, preferably in the automotive industryProficient experience creating typical 2D print dimensioning & tolerancingAdvanced understanding of how to apply GD&T to drawingsConsiderable experience in releasing drawings into data base (Oracle experience preferred)Demonstrated knowledge of complex math. Possesses a logical method of problem solving and willingness to learn and improve one s skills.
