specialty care services at the 327-bed hospital and outpatient
facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus
as well as at 10 Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout
Indianapolis.FLSA StatusExemptJob Role SummaryThe Network
Enterprise Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the
implementation of scalable, secure, and high-performance network
infrastructures across enterprise environments. This role
emphasizes end-to-end ISP circuit design and provisioning, ensuring
redundant, high-capacity connectivity to support critical business
operations using primarily Cisco hardware and software solutions.
The architect leads efforts in optimizing network performance
through technologies such as jumbo frames, while driving the
evolution of traditional data centers toward modern IT
architectures. Wireless network design is a key focus,
incorporating coverage, capacity, and seamless mobility for users.
The architect also oversees the integration of next-generation
firewalls, security-centric architectures, Cisco ISE access
control, threat prevention, and segmentation strategies into the
network. This role requires strong collaboration with security
teams to ensure all designs align with enterprise security policies
and compliance requirements.Essential Functions and
Responsibilities--- Proactively contributes to Eskenazi Health's
mission: Advocate, Care, Teach and Serve with special emphasis on
the vulnerable population of Marion County; models Eskenazi Health
values
--- Serves as the foremost expert on the organization's complex
network demonstrating the ability to design, deploy, and maintain
stable, high-performing and secure networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
--- Drives architecture planning, implementation, maintenance, and
monitoring of all networking components, including providing
recommendations and pathways to improve network design and
function, continuing to ensure sustainable growth through
futureproofing
--- Defines, maintains and applies best practices for networking
resources, including documenting roadmaps that factor in EoL (End
of Life) replacements, topology design changes, technology changes
(additions / removals / replacements)
--- Collaborates with other infrastructure teams on technology
designs and implementation (some examples that must be considered
in network design at Eskenazi are: Citrix, Fiber-channel-over-IP,
Cisco UCS, VOIP, and more)
--- Serves as a technical lead to ensures proper operations with
regard to network architecture, including incident and problem
resolution for all organizational networking resources
--- Creates and maintains complex networking diagrams, technical
documentations', and job aides for supporting staff
--- Provides technical leadership while leading projects, mentoring
engineers, coordinating changes, and troubleshooting
--- Utilizes lab simulation tools to vet configuration changes and
new design elements to assess risk and impact
--- Prepares and delivers written and oral training presentations
to personnel at all organizational levels as required to explain
functionality of networking resources
--- Examines and monitors all networking resources to determine
whether the business needs of the institution are being met, and
plans or recommends system changes/expansion based on this
information; prepares reports on utilization and performance of all
networking resources
--- Communicates with other Information Services staff and
management regarding all technical aspects of networking resources
and actively participates in process improvement efforts
--- Participates as member of Tier III in 7x24 after hours on call
rotation
--- Ensures planning, timely execution and proper resourcing of all
project level work as assigned, including acting in a project
manager capacity for medium to large technical projects
--- Consistently demonstrates strong ability to multi-task
Job Requirements--- Bachelor's degree in a related engineering
field, or the equivalent in other experience and/or
certification
--- CCIE certification (preferred) or CCNP certification. If the
applicant does not have either certification, they must have CCNP
level experience with established and demonstrated architecture
skills.
--- ITIL/ITSM certification, or demonstrated expertise in ITIL
practices
--- At least 10 years of experience architecting and managing
complex networking in a healthcare organization, or organization
with similar mission, function and size
