Certifications: BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) ACLS (Advanced
Cardiac Life Support) NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke
Scale) Must-Have: Epic experience required Must be willing to float
between ICC and ED units as needed Description: This role is for a
nursing position specializing in the Emergency Room. The unit sees
a variety of patients ranging from hematology, oncology, and sickle
cell. Patients may present with urgent and non-urgent conditions
but are typically more stable than the emergency room population.
Most patients will be discharged home, while others may be
admitted. This unit schedules appointments based on calls received
from the patient's primary team or oncologist. Patients may come
from another area of the facility or directly from home. Being a
smaller unit allows for strong relationships between staff members
and provides a supportive environment. Nurses will have
opportunities to develop numerous skills and create relationships
in a less acute setting. Patient Diagnoses include: Sickle Cell
Crisis Fever Abdominal pain Uncontrolled pain Anemia Nausea,
vomiting, dehydration The unit is staffed 24/7 by a team of
Advanced Practice Providers and Nurses. Interdisciplinary support
includes IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services,
Interpretation Services, Radiology, Social Services, and Rapid
