Job Title: Interventional Radiology Technologist Profession: Radiology / Cardiology Specialty: Interventional Radiology Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Previous interventional radiology experience preferred License: Valid ARRT/ODH license required Certifications: BLS required, ACLS preferred Must-Have: - Call may be required Description: Performs interventional radiology procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the interventional radiology procedure. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed interventional radiology policies and procedures. Performs daily and weekly quality control as required. Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques. Assists the radiologist in interventional radiology procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. Coordinates patient care with other areas to optimize patient time and satisfaction. Assesses learning needs and educates patients and families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about examinations. Ensures that all records, files, and reports are properly recorded as required. Performs clerical duties when necessary and verifies that a signed physician's order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure. Maintains knowledge of the locations and operation of all emergency equipment in the unit. Follows radiation safety policies and procedures. Medical imaging services provide developmentally appropriate care to all patients served. Staff receive initial orientation and subsequent annual competencies related to the psychosocial, physical, cognitive, and other related needs of the patients served. The medical imaging department provides diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for various patient types, including inpatients, outpatients, and emergency patients. Comprehensive services and trained staff are available to meet any medical imaging diagnostic or therapeutic needs the patient may have. Staff are available to assist patients or the medical staff in the event of an unplanned occurrence.
