your family. Come join our team! Wastewater Technicians are
responsible for safely overseeing the wastewater system and
assisting with the odor control at the landfill. This position also
assists in various areas of the landfill, including operating
equipment. Responsibilities of Position: Maintain the landfill to
meet requirements for EPA inspections Set-up and maintain portable
pumps for leachate and storm water control Perform preventive and
routine maintenance on diesel and gas engines and equipment Monitor
storm water pumping to maintain stream clarity and regulatory
compliance Manage odor control and wastewater system operations
around the site and evaluate site for odors, mechanical problems,
system failures, etc. Observe wastewater system and adjust as
necessary including, but not limited to, managing wastewater
discharge to maximize throughput Maintain and perform maintenance
on gas well field pumps Perform tasks and operate equipment in a
safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal
regulations and company policies Safely operate vacuum, sweeper,
flush and other trucks as needed Assist with landfill maintenance
as needed (i.e. build and repair fences, pick up litter around the
landfill, dig tracks, etc.) Assist with applying Alternate Daily
Cover (ADC) when necessary Interact with internal and external
customers Other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility: This
position will not manage employees Skills & Abilities Needed for
Position: Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
(physical exertions, including sitting, standing, reaching,
bending, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and climbing) Must
possess the mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn facility’s
extensive wastewater system Must possess the ability to learn to
weld HDPE pipe Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds at least 10
times and have the ability to carry heavy objects Must possess the
ability to learn to operate equipment to work in the trash disposal
area as needed Must be dependable, a self-starter, and able to
identify and perform daily operational requirements Ability to
communicate effectively and professionally with others Experience &
Knowledge Needed for Position: 1-2 years experience in a related
work environment preferred 1-2 years experience welding HDPE pipe
preferred Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday: Frequently
lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 50 lbs. Occasionally
lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbs. Rarely
lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling a max of 100 lbs Frequently
working outside Occasionally working in changing temperatures,
wet/humid conditions Frequently working in areas of dust, odors,
mist, gases, and other airborne matter Frequently
stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling Frequently climbing and/or
balancing Frequently sitting/standing/walking Additional Working
Conditions/Aspects: Must be at least 19 years of age No more than 3
moving violations within the last 2 years Must not have any DUI's
or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years Possible
exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
Exposure to residential and commercial waste Ability to work
flexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays Legally
eligible to work in the United States Valid driver’s license (if
applicable) Must successfully complete pre-employment testing Must
be able to read and speak the English language This job description
